Do your gutters pull away from the house or sag between hangers?
That's almost always failed hangers, either spikes that have worked loose over the years or fascia behind the gutter that has softened and no longer holds a fastener. A sagging section collects standing water instead of draining it, which adds weight and makes the sag worse with every rain. Left alone, a sagging gutter eventually tears loose from the fascia entirely, and by then you're usually looking at fascia repair as well as a rehang. Catching it while it's still just a sag is a much smaller job.
Signs your gutters need repair
Visible sag or a pulling-away section
A dip in an otherwise straight gutter line means the hangers holding it have let go, or the fascia behind them has softened. It won't fix itself and it gets worse with the next storm.
Water at the seams or corners
Seamless gutters still have joints at corners and end caps, and those are the spots that open up and leak first. A steady drip at a seam during rain means the sealant has failed there.
Overflow concentrated at one section
If most of the run is fine but water pours over the edge in one spot, that section is usually clogged, dented, or pitched wrong rather than the whole system being undersized.
Downspouts that dump water right at the foundation
A downspout that has come loose, been crushed, or never had an extension will drop roof water in one spot next to the house, exactly what gutters are supposed to prevent.

Loosened hangers from age and weight
Spike-and-ferrule hangers work their way out over years of expansion, contraction, and the weight of standing water or debris. Hidden hangers hold better and are usually what we rehang a sagging section with.
Rotted fascia behind the gutter
When the board the gutter is fastened to has gone soft, no amount of rehanging holds for long. The fascia has to be repaired or replaced before the gutter will stay put.
Pitch that has shifted over time
Even a properly installed gutter can lose its pitch as the house settles or hangers loosen unevenly. A quick correction to the slope often solves overflow that looks like a bigger problem.
A roof or drip edge issue feeding water behind the gutter
If the drip edge is missing or damaged, water gets behind the gutter no matter how well the gutter itself is repaired. That's a roof-side fix, not a gutter one.

We check the fascia behind the gutter for rot, since that determines whether this is a straightforward rehang or a fascia repair first. From there we correct the pitch, replace or add hangers, reseal seams and end caps, and confirm the downspouts drain away from the foundation. A gutter that sags or leaks at one seam seems like a minor annoyance until the water it's misdirecting finds somewhere to go. That's usually the fascia board first, then the soffit behind it, and eventually the foundation soil below. What would have been a quick rehang and a bead of sealant turns into replacing rotted boards and regrading the drainage around the house. Can a sagging gutter be repaired or does it need full replacement?
Most sagging sections can be repaired by correcting the hangers and pitch, especially if the fascia behind them is still solid. If the fascia has rotted or the gutter has pulled loose in several places along the run, replacement of that section, or the whole run, often makes more sense than repeated patch repairs.
How much does gutter repair cost?
It depends on how much of the run needs attention and whether the fascia behind the gutter needs repair too. A single loose hanger or resealed seam is a small job, while a run with rot behind it or multiple failed sections costs more. Why do my gutters keep overflowing even after cleaning them out?
If cleaning doesn't solve it, the problem usually isn't debris, it's pitch, sizing, or a damaged section that clogging masks. We check the slope and downspout capacity during the visit, not just the debris, since a clean gutter with the wrong pitch still overflows.
